Italian Student Host Information For October Visit
For 2 weeks in October, Italian Students and Chaperones will be visiting Medford. Host Families are needed for our Sister City guests. Host families provide housing, meals & transportation. Other volunteers are needed to help transport students to activities.
The Sister City Association will host group activities. Activities are still in the planning stage. Sample Itinerary (from 2015 Incoming Exchange): Welcome Party, Rafting Trip, Hanley Farm Tour, High School Days, Crater Lake Tour, Britt Concert, City Council Meeting, and Going Away Celebration. There are off days and families are encouraged to tour with the students and do other activities.
Frequently Asked Questions:
* My child went to Alba in 2017 and is a senior and going to college in September can I still host?
If you have other high school age children at home, you should apply.
* I cannot host, but can I help?
Help is needed transporting students to activities.
* Is there a cost to participate in activities?
The Sister City Association raises funds for the incoming exchange through The Annual Taste of Alba Event. In the past Italian students were not charged for any of the events and the Americans paid the actual cost. Some events are free. Costs will be available prior to October. You can help raise funds by attending & inviting your friend to attend the 2017 Taste of Alba on date TBA.
* What have families done in the past when the Italians are in town?
Ideas: Coast trip, Redwoods tour, High School football, volleyball & soccer games, Ducks & Beavers football games, hosted a group of students for tie die party, hosted other students for dinner, planned large group outing to Shojis, etc.
